 Mission - Purpose

Medicine Bag Project is an expression of our traditional way preserved within our family and tracing its origins back in the mist of time.  The traditions that we follow are the ancient Khotani teachings known as Lehiyugese or ‘The Ancient Way.’  This Sacred Way harkens to the voice of our ancestors to carry on the great teachings of the Khotani, thus preserving them for future generations. We adhere to our cultural as well as religious belief that life universal benefits when we are all walking in right relationship.

Each and every action that we take has a positive or negative affect on all things.  Every word or formula that has been made available is done so only after much prayer and meditation.  Herbal formulas, traditional counseling, etc. are for the benefit of the whole, their value determined by the reason for their existence.

We are all on a journey of the Soul.  Everything in life is connected at the Soul level.  In Khotani teaching everything is therefore related.  At Medicine Bag Project, we live that all of our relations might be ‘In Right Relationship’.  Therefore, our tradition teaches that we help all living things, animate and inanimate through the Blessing Way of our culture.

Service

We minister to people, animals and land through ceremony.  In Khotani teaching there are many expressions of ceremony such as song, dance, story, osi, prayer, traditional counseling, teaching, use of herbs, oils, decoctions, infusions, teas etc.

In Khotani belief every living thing participates in ceremony.  It is through the many expressions of ceremony that we minister to people, animals and the land.  Areas of service:

People:
Physical ailments, mental imbalances and spiritual disharmony

Animals:
Physical ailments, mental imbalances and spiritual disharmony

Land:
            Physical imbalances and spiritual disharmony

*In Lehiugese Khotani ceremony is the expression of the whole of our teachings. Spiritual, mental and physical healing are ceremonial components contained within the whole.
